What Nissan Belts Do

There are three kinds of belts operating behind the scenes with your vehicle. Your timing belt links the crankshaft to the camshaft, so your pistons and valves work in tandem with one another. Serpentine belts work off the idler pulley, crank pulley, and tensioner to operate parts such as the alternator. Drive belts, the last type, move parts like the water pump.
